Vancouver, WA (December 14, 2008) – Helping students and community members create a college radio station in 1994 taught me first hand that communications technology can empower, motivate and inspire large numbers of very diverse people far beyond receiving good grades, getting awards, and landing a big corporate paycheck. In the last fifteen years technology has changed the way we all live. The old way of getting a degree and landing a great long-term job with a stable local employer are over. Continuous education and freelancing will be the norm for talented and skilled workers. The income and recognition we enjoy will depend on our ability to self-promote and network with others. Just as shopping on Main Street was replaced with shopping malls and big box stores; in the next decade, shopping on the global Main Street via e-commerce stores will become the norm. The old way of getting news and information from the newspaper and television will be replaced by internet news outlets, social media networks, and blogs. The telephone and PC are morphing into hand held wireless devices which are becoming indispensable personal communications appliances. Suddenly, everyone can be a radio DJ, video broadcaster, news reporter, and communicate to a global audience around the clock. ThePortalUSA.org has taken a wide-variety of these new internet technologies and combined them in a way that has not been done before. Our organization will consist of a large network of interconnected websites. Each site will require a motivated and passionate contributor to share his or her knowledge, information, facts, events, products and services related to their sites topic. The big twist is that every serious contributor will earn a growing stream of income and become well known in their field of interest. The contributor only has to focus on educating and informing others; the system will take care of all the complex, costly, and very time consuming technical, promotional, and financial details. ThePortalUSA.org will help individuals or small organizations succeed at the endeavor of their choice. They will not be left on their own to compete against large organizations. Our contributor’s great ideas, talents, and passions won’t have to die for lack of money or insufficient understanding of technology and they will become known for their good works.
