American socio-economic changes that we seek to address

The job and small business opportunities of yesterday are gone and this forces us to face the reality that our traditional systems of education, employment, and lifelong financial security are no longer viable for the vast majority of American’s. Only those who can learn to adapt to the rapidly changing and highly technological environment will be successful in the future. Every working American will need to learn how to generate a variety of income streams; learn marketable skills and how to promote themselves in the marketplace.

  • Long-term employees are rapidly being replaced by short-term contract workers who must self-fund their retirement accounts and medical coverage.
  • Small family retailers have been replaced by shopping malls and big box stores. These too will be replaced by shopping on the more convenient and less costly ecommerce stores.
  • Factory jobs will not return as the low wages found in developing countries make it impossible to compete in labor intensive manufacturing. Eventually they too will be replaced by robotic automation.
  • Administrative tasks, management of information systems, hardware engineering, software design, marketing, and most traditional cubicle based jobs will move more and more to telecommuting on a global basis.
  • Pensions are disappearing and Social Security benefits will need to decline.
  • Government jobs will decrease as the tax base continues to fall and the deficit increases.
  • Charitable donations and capital investment will decline forcing the weaker organizations to fold.

Being aware of these changes and not changing how we prepare our American workforce is a recipe for economic disaster for the majority of our fellow American’s.

Today’s hyper-capitalism has taught our corporate leaders to simply seek exponential growth and maximum short-term profit at all costs to the local economy, the workers, and the environment. While this model will enrich a small percentage of our population in the short-term, it is not sustainable and will continue to cause repeated economic collapse and most severely impact those who rely on a weekly paycheck to cover their basic living expenses.

Underpaid, underemployed, and unrecognized American citizens can no longer wait for something to trickle down into their wallets.

The American Dream can be revived through allowing all interested people to participate on the global main street with the help of their own micro-organizations. However, managing a micro-organization alone is insufficient for success. Most small operators are unable to compete on their own as can be seen by the millions of websites and small brick and mortar shops that find almost no visitor traffic and thus generate almost no income for their owners. However; ThePortalUSA.org will join hundreds of micro-organizations together and form a large, well organized network which can achieve what no other lone organization is capable of.

ThePortalUSA.org is an educational organization managed by social entrepreneurs dedicated to helping people learn how to become successful social entrepreneurs through the operation of their own micro-organization. Each serious contributor can become more financially independent and secure; thus building America stronger from the ground up.

  • Social Entrepreneurs are charitable; but, we believe charity should empower, motivate, educate, and support people to overcome their struggle with poverty, low income, and debt.
  • Social Entrepreneurs are capitalists; but, we believe capitalism should be forward looking over the long-term and grounded in an ethical and moral foundation.
  • Social Entrepreneurs are concerned about the future and work to break down barriers and bridge gaps that are holding back human development.
  • Social Entrepreneurs are focused on achieving the organizational mission and goals and achieving measurable outcomes and not the next raise, promotion, and bonus check. If the organizations goals are met, the personal rewards will follow.
